Resources for Homeschooling in MA

Students come to Kalexedy registered as public, private, and homeschoolers. To offer families interested in more information about Homeschooling in Massachusetts, we offer the following links to great resources at the state and local level. Know something we should include, let us know. 

Kalexedy cannot file the paperwork necessary for you to be registered as homeschoolers. We can help answer questions, provide examples, proofread, and direct you to great resources for more information.

Advocacy Organizations

Families considering homeschooling in Massachusetts may feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the task. These organizations are great resources to connect with others, gather information, ask questions, and  familiarize yourself with the resources to help equip you to know your options and make an informed decision.

Since 1987, MHLA has worked with homeschooling families, districts, and the State to assist in deliberations about important homeschool policy issues. This includes helping families understand the requirements, fulfill the requirements, and to navigate any bumps in the road.

Advocates for Home Education in Massachusetts (AHEM) is a nonprofit, independent, grassroots, volunteer-run, educational organization that gathers and disseminates information about homeschooling in Massachusetts through education, advocacy, and events. We believe that informed and active homeschoolers are their own best advocates in maintaining the right to independently homeschool. We welcome and value the participation of anyone interested in homeschooling in Massachusetts.

MassHOPE is a non-profit organization, founded in 1988, which supports and assists Massachusetts homeschool families. They define home education as parent-directed, home-based, privately-funded education.

HSLDA is an advocacy organization committed to making homeschooling possible. They defend homeschool freedom, provide legal protection to homeschool families, offer grants to homeschool families who are facing hard times, and provide educational resources and support for homeschoolers.

State and City/Town Information

Each school district or city/town in MA manages homeschoolers that reside in that city/town. Notification of homeschooling is generally directed to the Superintendent for the schools in that town or their delegate. Below is a selection of cities and towns in proximity to Kalexedy. Each is linked to information about homeschooling as authored by that city or town.
